Why it is Important to Get to Know your Patients!

11, January 2021
by Andrew Keirl

A regular patient of the practice failed to attend for her annual glaucoma monitoring appointment just before Christmas.  As this was most unusual for this patient Tracy tried to call her without success.  Tracy then called a neighbour of the patient and requested that she called round to check on the patient.  The neighbour did this but there was no response from the patient.  The patients daughter was then called who had a key to the house.  The patient had collapsed!  An ambulance was called and the patient was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.  The patient called us today.  After a few weeks in hospital and one pacemaker later she is doing fine and on the road to recovery.   We wish her well!
